With so much change ahead it is time to streamline as well as refresh my belongings so that they will serve me on this very varied road into the future! (Brexit, Travel, living in America, going to photograph and teach English in Asia and getting ready to eventually move to Sweden… yes, that’s all a LONG story!)

MONEY & TRAVEL & EXPAT LIFE! More useful than anything for somebody living abroad and earning income or needing to pay bills in more than one currency has been Transferwise! I can’t recommend them enough.
Travel & Packing: Packing goodies! I LOVE these packing cubes. I was definitely skeptical before purchase but my suitcase is super easy to organise and for somebody who is away from home longterm and has quite different clothes for different seasons and occasions in her suitcase these packing cubes have been amazing! Lifechanging??? YES!
Earplugs made from wax! Jason swears by them! They keep him (a very light sleeper) sound asleep while I rattle around the room.. He reuses his earplugs for a week at a time, but I think this depends on how squeaky clean you feel your ears are. I certify his ears as ultra clean so it’s ok!
And then also these hard drive shell cases that help protect my data as I rattle around the world. The same company as the one making the above packing cubes also makes padded cases which can help protect hard drives when travelling. I use both of the cases below. The set of 3 padded cases as well as a few hardshell cases like the one on the left.

• My next camera upgrade will be this – In fact we are buying it THIS week!: Nikon D750 24-85 / 3.5-4.5 AF-S G ED VR ( 24.93 MP,3.2 -inch LCD ) I am not 100 sure yet when I can upgrade but until I do I am going to be in a bit of a professional career waiting loop.. The sooner I can make the leap the better. It is ok that my dream camera is a Canon at the moment and that I am sticking with Nikon. Nikon has seen me through a lot of learning! I did a lot of research and the Nikon D750 24-85 / 3.5-4.5 AF-S G ED VR ( 24.93 MP,3.2 -inch LCD )” target=”_blank” rel=”noopener noreferrer”>Nikon D750 will let me work at higher end than my current kit will allow me to. I think I will be happy!
I will need to update my memory cards, get a couple with faster writing speed than I have now and it would be great to get a 125 GB one but the price is eye watering so I will most likely settle for this one for filming SanDisk Extreme PRO 64 GB up to 300MB/s UHS-II Class 10 U3 SDXC Memory Card and this one when taking photos and not needing as much speed (this is so much cheaper!): SanDisk Extreme PRO 64 GB SDXC UHS-I Memory Card – Standard Packaging and then I will still need one more card to make use of the dual card slot facility on the Nikon D750, the compact flash cards.. BOOK RECOMMENDATIONS!
My favourite book that I read last year: Portrait in Sepia written by Isabelle Allende. It completely hooked me, maybe in part because it features San Francisco and the story of immigrants!

Data Storage is slowly taking over my life.. So I can never have enough of these hard drives. I tend to get the 2 TB ones rather than 3 or 4, I am not sure that I have a good enough reason for this.. Ultimately it means double the hard drives laying around. (UK LINK).
